What a tutoring invoice has to answer
An invoice is four answers on one page: who is billing, who owes, what the money is for, and how and when to pay. For tutoring, "what the money is for" should be specific enough that a parent can reconcile it against their own calendar: the session date, the subject or student, the hours, and the rate. "Algebra, March" invites a dispute. "Mar 4, Algebra II with Maya, 1.5 hrs at $60" gets paid.
The generator above covers those fields plus the ones people forget until an accountant asks: an invoice number, an issue date, a due date, and an optional tax line. If you charge for a package rather than individual sessions, one line item with the package name and its hours works fine.
Invoice numbers: pick a scheme, never reuse one
The number exists so that you, the parent, and eventually your accountant can point at the same document without ambiguity. Any scheme works if it is sequential and never repeats: plain counting (0041), or a year prefix (2026-041) that resets each January and tells you at a glance when the invoice is from. Do not reuse the number of a voided invoice, and do not renumber old invoices to close a gap. Gaps are ordinary; duplicates are how reconciliation breaks.
Due dates get you paid. "On receipt" does not.
"Due on receipt" reads as "whenever". A date reads as a date. Pick a standard term for your business, put the resulting date on every invoice, and put the payment instructions on the invoice itself rather than in the email around it, because the invoice is the page that gets saved and forwarded. If a parent has to write back to ask how to pay you, the invoice did not finish its job.
The tax line
Whether tutoring is taxable depends on your state and sometimes on the kind of tutoring, so the tax field here is optional and empty by default. If you collect sales tax, enter the percentage and the generator adds the line and does the arithmetic. If you are not sure whether you should be collecting it, that is a question for an accountant licensed in your state, not for a free web tool.

Does anything I type leave my browser?
No. The tool makes no network request with what you type: the totals, the print, and the HTML download all happen locally on your device. Refreshing the page erases everything, which is the flip side of nothing being stored.
How do I get a PDF?
Click Print, then choose "Save as PDF" as the destination in your browser's print dialog. The printed document contains only the invoice, not the rest of this website.
Can I save my invoice and finish it later?
Not on this page; nothing is stored, by design. When you finish, download the HTML copy and keep it with your records. It opens in any browser, contains everything including your logo, and prints the same way.
Is an invoice from this generator legally valid?
An invoice is a request for payment, not a contract, and no law requires special software to issue one. What matters is that the contents are accurate and that you keep a copy. If you need e-invoicing compliance for a specific jurisdiction, check its rules; this generator produces a plain, standard invoice.
Do I need a tax ID or EIN on the invoice?
Usually not when billing parents. Some clients, typically schools and companies that report what they pay you, will ask for one, often alongside a W-9. If a client requires it, the business details field has room for it.
Can I invoice a package instead of individual sessions?
Yes. Use one line item: the purchase date in the date field, the package name in the description, the package hours in hours, and your per-hour rate in rate. Or leave hours at 1 and put the full package price in the rate column.
